They call me Princess Cayce by P.D. Ball

I loved the premise of a gender swap time travel. The MC is confused whether this misogynist battle-heavy world he has been hurled into is a LARP (live action role play), a VR simulation, or a very horrible real-life event possibly aided by self-induced bad behavior. He doesn't have time to worry about it, however, because the King is dead, the army is suffering terrible losses, there is magic and nasty wizards, traitors, and he's trapped in a 14 year old's body and everyone calls him 'Princess.'

This is a light-hearted anachronistic romp through a medieval fantasy world. The author has a light touch with the world-building and magic and is mostly focused on the character development. I look forward to reading more about Tread, Brinley, Morritz, and Brundle in the books to come.

Think Princess Bride mashed up with Freaky Friday/Switch. Enjoy!

A valiant attempt at a gritty, Game of Thrones–inspired fantasy world, but the poor editing and unimpressive writing left me underwhelmed. Still, could be worse, given that it seems to be the author's first published novel.
