I really don't like either Cat or Bones which makes these a funny series to read for light fluff but I do like Frost's writing style so occasionally I do a quick read of one. They are super fast popcorn snacky kind of books.

I didn't read the other series that is sort of connected to this, so there are parts that still make no sense. Yet, I still enjoy this series. Its great listening to while at work and even when I was reading the paperback, it was always enjoyable. Vampires that are too vampiric and annoying. If that makes sense at all.

I am a little upset about the cover for this book. I can understand that the original cover model had to change because the previous one was no longer doing it anymore. What I can't understand is the reasoning in using a model that looks to fragile and puny to be our beloved Red Reaper. She is pretty and such, but she is not fierce looking like the original one used. Aside from the cover being what it is, the story was still a great read. So the cover will be overlooked on my part since the story proved to be better than the artwork.
While I loved the action filled story, I felt that this book was more of a filler book. Something to appease the fans until the next big book. Yes, there is a plot and story filled with action, but at times it did get to be a little repetitive. Find the ghost, chase the ghost, ghost gets away, then repeat. It got a little frustrating for this reader. Add on top of that only one great sex scene between the two great characters of Bones and Cat. I needed some more sexiness that I have grown to love between the two. Yes, I understand they have grown in their relationship and true love is more present between the two in this book, but only Bones can bring out the fierceness of bedroom sexy we crave! Bring it to us Bones!
While some characters from previous books are present in the story, I was a little heartbroken for their brief page time. Vlad was mentioned once, but never seen and Tate was only shown for a small few pages. I wanted the author to bring back the witty fierceness and romantic sexiness that we crave when reading a Night Huntress series.
Overall, it was a good book to build the next storyline that the author will reveal. I am just disappointed that we have to wait yet again for the Cat and Bones we have grown to love.

One Grave at a Time—Night Huntress book six by Jeaniene Frost
This book was a roller coaster ride. Touching in that it allowed us to enjoy some of the more serene moments we has gotten to experience with Cat and Bones, and harrowing when we faced off against one of the worst evils ever spawned by man. Add to that a new egomaniac that took over out government funded friends and a passel of ghosts to contend with and you have one wild ride.
I liked this book a great deal, although I have to admit to not particularly enjoying parts of it—the miasma of evil and just plain psycho-ness of the main villain in this one was enough to give me the willies at times—which is a great big well done to Ms. Frost, even if I did have to take a time out while reading to recover from the pain of having my psyche twisted. The characterization was flawless in this book adding depth to the characters that we know and love, while adding some new and memorable names to our cast. Cat and Bones have made it to the point of intimacy that as a reader warms my heart without lessening either the sensual or emotional tension. They love each other more than anything; and if anything, that is almost scarier, as they have more to lose. Tyler, our new medium, was probably my favorite in comic relief; able to keep a head on his shoulders, at least when not bleeding out, and still keep a fierce wit and be snappy tease.
The plot of this book worked well to move both the story and the world along, tho the ghostly quest bit did strike me as a tad contrived. I was saddened by the presence of Madigan as the new agency head, and see plenty of room for future plots to, hopefully, put him in his place. I also hope we see more of Tate and the team in the future, all good reasons to tune in to the next book. Tho first, I believe, is Vald’s tale—which assuages my grief that he did not make an appearance in this story.
I give this book an enthusiastic four stars ★★★★

This one lack the wit of most of the other books, partly because characters like Vlad, Tate, Mencheres, and Juan barely featured. There also didn't seem to be a lot happening - it felt like it was just setting the scene for a future book.

Not my favorite of the series but I still am happy to re-visit the characters.
My main issue is I felt like the villain was too overpowered.
Sorry this is a terrible review. I have the flu but felt compelled to write something.
