The writing in this book was absolutely horrible. Concepts that were really central to the plot like mental health, suicide, and many worlds theory were so poorly researched that often things were shared about them that were blatantly false and uneducated. The characterization of all of the characters was incredibly poor, and each character was so shallow in their emotions and dialogue that it was painful to read. This was one of those books where it was simply so bad that it was funny, and laughing at how poorly it was written was the only reason I even finished it. Unfortunately, I don't understand the hype that this book has had the last few years.

This was recommended to me by a good friend several months ago, and I am so glad I finally got around to it!! Nora could be any of us, and the way in which she is left to figure out the beauty of life is written so well. I knew the ending at the beginning, and there were no big plot twists or surprises, but this book didn’t need any of that. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I loved the philosophical take on what happens after death while the character learns to love her life again and fight to stay. It was a really nice and reflective read!

this book found me at exactly the right time, when I needed it most. I’m forever grateful to it, and for the author for writing it. I felt so seen.

Overall it was okay. I did enjoy the philosophical quotes from Thoreau and the like. Towards the end I had a feeling it would end up how it did. The beginning could be a little triggering for anyone who has had suicidal thoughts or the like just as an FYI since the description of the book doesnt mention it.

This is one of my most favorite books I’ve read recently. I will be thinning about it for a while.

I read this book in a day. I just couldn’t stop. Is the overall ending predictable and does the author bash you over the head with what Nora learned? Yes. But nothing wrong with feeling good. Not every book has to be both life changing and a new form of its art.

The plot wasn’t what I was expecting (I went in without knowing what it was about) but it was really good! It started off slow and I almost DNF’d but glad I kept going through. It is predictable but the character growth is exciting to watch. The author did a perfect job at explaining Nora’s depression. As someone with depression it’s often hard to explain or express the deep feeling of loneliness and self hate.

The main character’s story was about suicide and the will to live, and when I first started reading this, I had just gotten out of the hospital because of acting on those thoughts as she struggles with. I’ve tried to read it multiple times since, but it brings up too many painful memories. I’d love to finish reading it someday. It just might take me a while before that can be possible.

Sad stuff.
