I really didn’t like this book until the end. I don’t like pippa… although the little bit of Celine we got in this book made me not like her anymore either.

I will probably read the next book. Or I will completely forget about this story by time the next one comes out. I feel invested after listening to these 3 books in 2 days. But I’m also very disappointed in the turn this book took

Delightfully surprised by this installment! I did not expect that ending though!

The third installment threw me through a loop, and I’m not quite sure how I feel exactly. The Damned left me in turmoil with that cataclysmic ending, but Ahdieh took us on a different roundabout journey with some of our two side characters now becoming the main characters. This particular book also reminded me of the Mortal Instruments books (in some ways).

While I loved Arjun, I found myself extremely annoyed with Pippa and wanted to slap her upside the head plenty of times. We see glimpses of Celine and Sebastian but not enough as I wanted, and only towards the end of the book.

A lot of the beginning plot points seemed to get lost in translation, as other obstacles starting to arise, and it left a lot of things unsaid. The ending was a little confusing to me, and also for being such a big moment in the book, I thought there would be more of an explosive ending rather than a few sentences that you leave wanting the fourth and final book.

I am anxious to see where this story goes with that ending.

This was such a disappointment. The first book and the sequels differ a lot from the vibe and I am not a fan of thr direction of the story. Turned out to be very bland. Not sure I'd pick up the next book.

There is a lot of conflict between Celine and Sebastian. A lot of it is related to Celine wanting to believe that her mother has the best intentions. Sebastian, on the other hand, has his suspicions that there is more to the fae court than meets the eye. It does not help that Sebastian does not fit in. He is still coming to terms with being a vampire. At home, he at least fit in with the other supernatural creatures because they are  the only family he has ever known. At the fae court, he is disliked, first based on his nature, and secondly because he is not seen as a fitting romantic match for Celine.

It feels like a 60/40 split petaining to how much time we spend with Arjun/Pippa vs. Celine/Sebastian, which is a nice change of pace, personally. Celine and Sebastien's relationship is reasonably well established already, so I was looking forward to see Arjun and Pippa's develop. A reasonable chunk of the plot takes place in the fae world. There is an occasional switching of point of view

Arjun's existence as a half fae has a lot of political implications in the fae court. It felt like the discrimination and rejection Arjun experiences for being half fae is analagous to the experience of people of color in the human world. I appreciated the parallels and what we learn about Arjun's past. He's actually quite guarded, intelligent, and caring. He has to play along with the canniving ways of the fae in order to protect Pippa. This makes it so that Pippa has trouble trusting him at first. Overall, I was very satisfied with how they came together at the end and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in the next installment.

This book felt like it was planting seeds for what is to come in the next book. The fae world is fascinating in its complex politics. I can't wait to see how all of the plot points planted here come to fruition in the last book. A very solid third installment.

This didn’t go the direction I imagine but I loved it so much! Filled with adventure and romance. Pippa & Arjun have overtaken my fondness for Bastien and Celine. I can’t wait for the next book!

This story felt a lot more disjointed, with the storyline of Arjun seeking a healer taking a backseat, and not being able to tell where the story was headed for most of the book. I'm also unsure about the necessity of other POVs (Celine/Bastien/Michael) and skimmed through those. The ending also left way more questions than answers.

Still enjoyable in terms of RA's enchanting writing, and getting to know our charming characters Arjun and Pippa, whom I've liked since the previous books. Hoping to get more clarity in the next book.
