2.5 stars. This was nothing like what I was expecting. I read the previous books in the series over a year ago so I didn’t mind that this one focused on Pippa and Arjun because I honestly didn’t remember any of the plot from the rest of the series. Whiiich was a problem because it was hard to pick up and figure out.
But beyond all that l, this book had some weird things going on. The pacing was all over the place. I think it technically took place within 2 or 3 days but it’s really hard to tell how time is passing. At one point I assumed multiple days had passed and then they mentioned that a big event happened the day before. It was hard to follow the timeline.
The author also tried really hard to make religious, political, and social commentary but it was so obviously done that it pulled me out of the story.
The ending was really abrupt. I’m disappointed because I remember liking the other books in the series.

The main characters changed from the first two books to this one and I’m still not sure why. The plot was not easy to follow and I felt like it wasn’t going anywhere exciting. It’s sad because the first two books were great! I feel like this one was forced and the added characters seemed to be agendas that had nothing to do with the storyline? Whomp whomp.

I read this because I couldn’t get enough of the first two! I’m sad to say while I still enjoyed this book, there was too much steamy/sexy scenes for me. The first book was mostly adventure with some intimate tension but the series has gradually added more risqué scenes and it made this one a harder read for me. I’ll finish the series since I’m so far in but I’m hoping for less detail in these moments and more plot.

The third book in The Beautiful series did not disappoint.
As with the first two books, the storytelling and world building is fantastically detailed and immersive, and like book two it felt darker and more dangerous.
The Righteous naturally explores questions of power. Whether power can ever be good, especially if it’s combined with ambition. It wonders how happy we all are where we are. And what we will do to chase happiness. I cannot wait for the final book.
