Damn this was good, especially that ending!! I can’t wait to see how this beautiful quartet comes to a close.

I did not like this one as much as the previous 2 and am hoping that the last book really comes through. While it was nice to learn more about other characters, it felt almost like a placeholder while the rest of the story was happening and didn't seem to add much to the main storyline.

This was meh compared to the other books in this quartet. I enjoyed it. But it wasn't as good compared to the rest of the series. I'm not a fan of the forced marriage trope. It comes of a bit like Stockholm syndrome. But I liked knowing more about Arjun. And the bits we got of Sebastian and Celine were interesting. All in a I felt like this was just a love story and nothing else. Hopefully the next one is better.

I really enjoyed the first two books (I listened to the audiobooks) but this one was extremely disappointing to me. I do t know if it was the change in format or because we were mostly following different characters but I was bored, the whole time. I feel like nothing happened in this book. The main thing that is supposed to be the main “quest” from the first chapter…doesn’t really happen? Instead we get boring “character development” and not much else. I will not continue on with the series

The Righteous mainly follows Arjun and Pippa, two side characters from the previous books.
They are both traveling to the Sylvan Vale for different reasons. Pippa is in search of her best friend, who has mysteriously disappeared and Arjun in search of a healer. Their stories will intertwine and their already palpable chemistry will develop into something more.
My relationship with this series has been tumultuous.
I have always felt like in theory, this series could be one of my favorites, but in reality, it is just average.
I feel like the mediocrity of this series lies in the execution.
The narration style has been very inconsistent in the whole series. You get a variety of different points of view, but in some books you get two, some books you get ten. Some point of views are 1rst person, some are 3rd person. For example, in the second book, Bastian's POV is in 1rst person, but in this third book, his POV is 3rd person. I have been asking myself why the author decided to make so many changes for a long time now and I still haven't found the answer.
I didn't particularly love Pippa's character or how Celine was kind of transformed into this naive girl. However, I do love Arjun. I think he has a very interesting background and he was a very layered character.
Now, I have two very opposite opinions about the ending. I love it and I hate it at the same time. If it wasn't for the last three lines of the last chapter, I would have hated it. The climax of the story was poorly written, in my opinion. I was very confused as to what was happening and as to who was doing what. However, the final reveal can lead to a very interesting finale. It certainly surprised me and I can't see how someone could have seen it coming.
In concept, this series is great, but in execution, it might have benefited from a little bit of polishing.
