Weird. I was really into it at first but it didn't develop the way I was hoping. Also views on woman and non-Europeans is outdated. I guess as a woman I wasn't meant to read this anyways
Zarathustra is dead, the ubermensch has left the building,
only Mulla Nasiruddin remains, and he too will soon be on his way out.
Nietzsche in the 21st century makes anyone queasy, its not that the truth has become repugnant, it always was that way. Perhaps its just the style, nothing to see here, move along.

actually kinda liked it but also it’s very gym bro vibes. i see why a certain german group co-opted nietzsche philosophy. i like how ornate nietzsche’s writing style is but definitely very wordy and a little superfluous. there really were some points that deeply resonated with me about how to cope with the entropy of existence. god is dead!

l'ho dovuto leggere per la mia tesi delle superiori anni or sono.. ci sono dei punti (e solo dei punti) nella filosofia di nietzsche che mi affascinano ma questo libro proprio non mi ha entusiasmato per nulla
It has its issues, but there are definitely a lot of beautiful ideas and things to think about here.
I don’t think there’s much about this book that hasn’t already been said, but I’ll give a few of the areas where this book falls into my life personally.
First off, Thus Spoke Zarathustra is a “book for everyone” but is not the best introduction to Nietzsche. If you really want to enjoy this book, which I think anyone can, you should read a summary of Nietzsche’s most clear philosophical concepts. If I had read this book knowing nothing about Nietzsche, I still would’ve liked it. However, knowing a bit of information about “eternal recurrence,” “bad conscience,” and “will to power” (in addition to the obvious ones like the Ubermensch) had me recognizing both subtle and obvious nods to the basis of his philosophy.
Zarathustra is basically the existentialist Pilgrim’s Progress, in the sense that every single character is a representation of an entire ideology playing out in the real world. This is especially the case in the later chapters.
Undoubtedly, Zarathustra is DENSE. A thiccy boi, if you will. And it’s neither good nor bad for that reason alone. Specifically, Zarathustra’s obtuse prose and idyllic poetry hold so much content worth considering that it’s worth the time to sit with it. You may feel like you bit off more than you can chew, but you really just need to chew slowly and savor the flavor.
