the way that lily acts towards ryle when he claims he would change made me extremely mad, like leave him permanently!! but overall it was a rollercoaster of emotions and made me EXTREMELY tense during some parts and those are the kind of books that i LOVE. it displays acts of physical abuse from spouses/partners and also tells you options on what to do. i love how this book displays what some women/men have to go through. according to me overall, i give this book a perfect 5 according to the storyline and pace! (took me 3 nights to read it whole because of how the book had me CLINGING) but according to my emotions, a 4.75 because of how often i cried (not joking.)

I’m not one to normally write reviews, but this book really moved me. I went into it just knowing it was a romance novel, and started thinking it was overhyped almost immediately. However, once Part 2 started, I was proven wrong. Highly recommend this read.

If I cried easily at media I would have shed so many tears. Powerful. Sad. Gripping. I can't wait to pick up the second book in the series.

The fact that this book is so popular just really bums me out.

Listen I know this is a stupid thing to get caught up on. But the book lost me on page 1 when the character feels like hanging out on a rooftop, uses Google Earth to look for nearby apartment buildings with rooftops, and then just like, goes to one and somehow gets onto the roof. Later we learn it’s a luxury building full of rich people penthouses. Do they not lock the building????? Is there no doorman wondering why a sketchy 23 year old is lurking around???? My immediate impression was, “ok so this author has never lived in or been to an apartment building.”

Also the fact that the character is named Lily Blossom Bloom and she owns a flower shop at age 23. And the creepy love interest is a med school student yet calls himself Dr. Kincaid and somehow is fabulously wealthy and can buy a 3 bedroom apartment ?? TMI but once I went on a date with a med school student and he used Kleenex as napkins and had almost no furniture in his rented studio apartment. So now we know the author has no concept of money or med school either.

Don’t even get me started on the teenage diary entries written as letters to Ellen Degeneres that take up half the book. Or the fact that in the diaries Lily Blossom Bloom recounts entire conversations in quotes. Oh and of course the other character names are Atlas, Ryle, Allysa, Rylee and Emmy Dori because the author apparently hasn’t met normal humans with normal names either.

This is the first and only Colleen Hoover book I’ll ever read!
