I went into this book thinking it was a one off. I get to the end and I'm so confused. Only to mark it as read and see that it's a series. That makes more sense.

It doesn't end with a super high cliffhanger but it does leave you standing at the top of the stairs to a dark basement.

I’m so glad Amazon picked a seasoned author for one of their First Reads selections! The Last Lie Told was a well-written page-turner in a new series featuring Finley O’Sullivan, a former assistant district attorney who lost her job after having a mental breakdown following the tragic murder of her husband. She is hired by a family friend, Jack Finnegan, as an investigator for his law firm.

Finley doesn’t feel her change of occupation is a setback, however, and she is tenacious on the job. Jack is asked to represent a wealthy family when the murderer who was convicted of killing the father recants his confession, five years after his incarceration. Finley joins Jack in the investigation.

Finley is still traumatized from her husband’s murder, and the plot follows her investigation into both murders. She’s supported by her best childhood friend, Matt Quinn, who currently works as the liaison between the police, DA, and mayor. He’s also unabashedly in love with her. She’s NOT supported, however, by her no-nonsense mother, a popular judge who never wanted Finley to marry her husband in the first place.

Finley learns some surprising facts about both murders during the course of her investigation. But not everything is resolved in this installment. Regardless, the pacing was excellent, and the plot itself was twisty and compelling. Finley was a likable character, too, despite her flaws.

I can’t wait for the next one!

This book started off slow but it ended with a bang.

Every time I read a book or watch a movie that involves twins and it's some type of psychological thriller, I always suspect that that the twins aren't really twins, that it's one person with split personalities. I suspected this from the beginning, but then towards the middle I really started believing that it really was twins. It really throws you for a loop once you find out the truth.

The killer is not gonna be who you think it is throughout the entire book, which also throws you for a loop.

And I have absolutely got to read the next in this series because I NEED to know what the situation is with Finley's dead husband. How can you meet someone in March, marry them in April, and when you start finding out shady shit about them months after they die, you don't start questioning everything? How how can you still have full faith in that person? I need answers.

Finley O’Sullivan is getting back to work as an investigator for Nashville attorney, Jack Finnegan. Her license is suspended so she can’t work as an attorney and she is concentrating on the investigation. She is still trying to develop evidence on her husband’s murder and her attack a few months ago. When one of the inmates on death row retracts his confession claiming that he had only helped his girlfriend clean up after the murder. His girlfriend is one of a pair of twins and the murder victim is their father. Jack’s firm has been tasked with protecting the twins and proving they are not guilty.

This is the first of a new series titled “Finley O’Sullivan #1” of which there are three titles. The mystery was routine. The characters were also fairly run of the mill. There is a chain of action that is well paced. The ending is fairly well designed and just enough open ended questions to entice a reader into the second book. This series will be perfect for a group of readers deeply into this genre. I don’t expect to read any further.

Hello Finley O'Sullivan! Struggling to keep herself above water, former ADA Finley is working as an investigator for her godfather's legal firm. The book does a good job of establishing the foundation for many of the characters to be in the series while at the same time giving the readers a juicy crime to navigate. At points I was a bit confused by the twins and had to try really hard not to make assumptions about where the story was going.

Holy YES PLEASE! I got this book early as part of the Kindle first program. It is set in Nashville, Tennessee one of my favorite places. Right from the beginning you can sense the mystery, suspense, and secrets. This book had me hooked from page one and never let go. The character of Finley is a very complex character that I appreciate tremendously. There are so many facets to her you’re not sure what is what or who she really is until you dive deeper into the story.

This story has many layers of suspense not just on the case Finley and Jack are working, but with Finley, her past, and her husband. The intrigue as you turn each page grows and you find yourself on the edge of your seat unable to stop turning pages.

The last chapter of this book was so amazing with more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. I cannot wait to see what happens or what is discovered regarding Finley and Derrick. This was my first book by Debra Webb and now I must go buy more!
