Thanks to Libro FM for providing me with an advanced audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fun, snappy enemies-to-lovers romance about Cherisse, a Trinidadian pastry chef and dessert expert trying to take her business to the next level and Keiran, a music producer, who enjoys riling Cherisse up.
I liked the slow-build up between the two leads and thought the pacing was pretty spot on for a dislike-to-like romance. I'm always a fan of books where the main characters have known each other since childhood, so I enjoyed the additional layer this added to Cherisse and Keiran's story. I felt like a bit of chemistry was lacking at times, but the other parts of the story made up for this. I was also a big fan of the fact that Keiran is bi, because I haven't read many other romances where just the male lead is queer, so it was a new dynamic for me.
I really liked Cherisse's group of friends; their tight-knit bond and the way they all looked out for each other was so enjoyable to read. I also LOVED all the discussions of food and found myself getting very hungry while listening to this. All in all a very easy-to-listen-to, entertaining read.
Content warnings for infidelity and cheating, violence (fighting).
