This is a hard one to rate. I felt like I really had to persevere to keep going at a few points. Quite unbelievable in places and not in a good way. I did like the ending though :)

The book deals with the intense emotional life of the mid-forties main character. I did not enjoy reading this book. The main character is so completely broken that I felt sad for her. In scenes that I think were intended to be funny, I wanted to look away. Every relationship she had was just twisted.

I was startled by the casual violence and graphic, brutal sex descriptions - if you have triggers (especially suicide) then definitely look into the list associated with this book before picking it up.

An entertaining book for sure!
It is one of those books that you can't help but finish. Similar to the reality show you wish you hadn't started watching, but can't stop following.

I gave it 2 stars because it is too predictable. But I also enjoyed it.

A good pause for the mind.

A little bit predictable at first. It’s obvious they were going to get divorced, obviously he was going to go for the younger secretary, obviously he was going to come back when he realised the grass wasn’t greener… but towards the end suspense rises and the last pages really shocked me.

This book is filled with brutality, revenge, love, hate, friendship and so so much more. It can be brutal in parts, so, step inside this book with the lights on.

My thanks to Netgalley and Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group for this advanced readers copy. This book is set to release in July, 2020.

Poor mans more fatphobic gone girl. No good feeling of payout for all the bullshit we put up with Jack because Faye literally kept it a secret from him. Literally everything but the email. I also couldn’t stand reading Faye putting up with Jack in the first part without saying ANYTHING. Really frustrating predictable read.
