OKAY. OKAY. OKAY.

i was confused for 37%, I couldn't figure out the story line for 18%, and the rest was history. one thing that was awesome and completely great is the house, and it was so bad the horrors it endured. the whole book detailed the traumatized past of the children who lived in the house, but I was more convinced that it's not just the people but also the house — haunting and enduring the horrors as much it is inflicted on the members lived. i very much wanted to drop this book midway, but Henry and his obsessive behaviour towards phin had me really. i so much wanted an happy ending for them and NGL that kept me hooked but the story took different turns as i flipped the pages.

it was a tragedy to see life for you shrink into nothing in front of you and to them a marvelous unexpected lottery. i enjoyed the characters lucy and Justin, i personally think they deserved better than they got and the determination and will power lucy posed were so mildly credited i was expecting more to her side of story.
i could see that same old typical parenting that led this ship down and the way it is still prevalent in modern days.

THE BABY. THE BABY, THE BABY.

as the story went about how serenity is the last puzzle piece and the turning point of how she is not who she has been represented is the masterfully placed in the book. i could say the pure and affection henry had for her is the string that comforted him. not the best but in a way it was mundanely special connection.

the psychological aspects of this book dealt with negative social influence, manipulation and isolation, cult- like behavioural development, family trauma and the resilience, healing, self discovery are all defined and well portrayed to the extent.

Good Story overall but quite anti-climactic honestly. I was surprised when it was over because it felt like it had just started.

Good read. Not a masterpiece, but I had a hard time putting it down so that a 4 in my book!

Easy read
