The Dark Wind is Jim Chee's second appearance, and the story involves the Hopi Nation and an area of land that was once Navajo and is now Hopi. There's a trading post owner who does sleight of hand, a burglary that has far more questions than answers, a windmill that keeps getting vandalized, and a cocaine smuggling ring. It's an interesting mystery, but, like many Hillerman novels, ends exactly after the mystery has been solved. No chapter of what happens after the solving, no chapter about how the now-solved mystery effects the Navajo Police or their cooperation with the various Federal agencies. No chapter about if any changes were made.
Graphic: Blood, Death, Gun violence, and Police brutality
