Should have left this one in my childhood memories. Definitely not as good as I remembered lol

Silly. And written with overly flowering language. And the dragon just doesn't look nearly as much like a dragon as it ought. But a quite different take on the Knight and the Dragon. The later sections of the book read a little bit more simply and with somewhat faster pacing, drawing you into the tale. A clever story but could have been done just a bit better with both the writing and the art. 3.5 of 5.

I do love finding good books and this was a good find, by the same author who wrote The Wind in the Willows, which when I tried to read it as a kid found it to be a real snoozer, but I'm going to go back and read it again and expect to appreciate it this time around.

Don't write off, or be fooled into *not* reading, books that appear to be children's stories.

This is a classic for good reason, it is a clever and charming tale that is a joy to read to a child. It is hard to write about why I love this book without spoilers, so if you haven't read it, just do, it's a quick read. And try and grab a copy illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard as his drawings add a great deal to the charm of the story.
