The amazing journey of Strobel discovering how accurate and true the gospel of Jesus is just powerful. It has strengthened my faith in the bible and faith in God. It's a great book for all believers and non-believers.

The Case for Christ documents a series of interviews of leading Biblical scholars that discuss such questions as:

Can the biographies of Jesus be trusted?
Were they reliably preserved?
Does archaeology confirm or contradict the gospels?
Was Jesus crazy when He claimed to be the son of God?
Was Jesus seen alive after His death on the cross?
What does the evidence establish?

I liked Strobel's writing style. He includes a nice description of his conversations without just listing a bunch of dry academic facts. The facts themselves are quite interesting. I thought his "case" was well presented, but I am of course already biased to believe it. So, would it change my mind if I were atheist or agnostic? I don't know. He does bring up common arguments and refutes them, which I found compelling.

Speaking as a Christian, I believe this book provides an interesting read in apologetics. I enjoyed it, and thought it had some solid points to support the validity of the Bible. Of course, in the end, it's written by a man. Ultimately, my faith comes from what I read in the Bible, not what a man or Bible scholar writes. I believe anything aside from the inspired word of God can have fallacies - intended or not. But I would recommend this read to others, and I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

I was unfamiliar with Lee Strobel prior to picking up this book, but the moment I saw it, I was intrigued. Strobel was the former legal editor the Chicago Tribune, and an avowed atheist. After his wife became a Christian, he decided to explore whether there was any valid proof of Jesus Christ’s existence, ministry, death, and resurrection. He did this by interviewing (grilling) a dozen experts in the fields of archaeology, manuscript studies, and history.

The result is fascinating. Strobel raised question after question over a period of two years as he tracked across the country to challenge experts about the Christian faith. In the end, even he couldn’t deny the evidence. Atheist-turned-Christian, he is now regarded as a highly respected evangelist, Christian speaker, and author.

Whether you are a Christian, undecided in your faith, or a diehard skeptic, this book will make you think. It opened my eyes to many aspects of the New Testament and strengthened my faith. I was also moved by Mr. Strobel’s change of heart from the start of his journey to its conclusion. Highly recommended reading.

Food for thought.

I would have liked to see some more diverse perspectives and opinions. The majority of interviewees were white men, and it would have strengthened the arguments to provide more diversity. However, the information presented is excellent.

A very fascinating book, written by a man who used to be an atheist and an investigative reporter. He decided to look at the issue of Jesus and his resurrection through the same investigative lens that he dealt with other issues. In the end, he found - and chronicles here - his conclusions that the claims of Christianity must be true and valid.

Regardless of your spritual position, this book is sure to leave a lasting impression and generate some deep thinking. It is an autobiographical novel written by an athiest investigative reporter who sets out to disprove Christ to his wife who announces she has accepted Christianity. Through methodical interviews with experts the author gradually builds a case to support a conclusion.
