I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was definitely a quick read, but it was really fun and cute. The characters really grew on me. It was a bit harebrained at times, and it jumped around a bit, but it was still good. The only downside was that it was short. Definitely can't wait for the next one, though!

Unfamiliar is a comic with cute, spooky, witchy art. It relies on awkward moments and the power of friendship to give us a quirky, memorable story that's also quite funny at times. The characters literally show their thoughts and feelings in their eyes, which is both adorable and also shows what a mess they all are (same).

The story starts with Planchette and Pinyon, two useless (or so they think) witches teaming up for an exorcism. Planchette's a kitchen witch, and Pinyon's the dud in a long line of illustrious witches. Planchette's new house is haunted, which explains why she was able to get it at a steep discount. Only ghostly therapy can help the spirits move on. Or possibly a new hair ribbon.

Our other two main characters give off major sapphic vibes. Babs is half siren and desperate to just exist without admirers fawning over her. Maybe Sun, who knows how to be off-putting and aloof, can help her dream come true. But it turns out Sun was cursed and is saving up an exorbitant amount of money for the local witch doctor to fix her. Maybe the two can help each other get what they need.

I had such a good time reading this story and want to see what happens next. Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for my copy to read and review!

This graphic novel was so cute. I loved the art style and think it lended really well to the quirky, spooky, edginess of the story. I loved these characters and how they helped each other out in unexpected ways.

Recommended for those who enjoyed Mooncakes.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I was so excited when I saw this one pop up on Netgalley, I have heard of the series before but never had the chance to read it. Plus, with how slow Tapas at times is, I am happy that I can now just read it at my own speed. XD
