I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I loved this from start to finish! A heartwarming and cozy read, I can’t recommend it enough. I only wish it’d been longer so I didn’t have to stop reading.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for dreamy artwork and a lovely story about friendship. I can't wait to read more about Planchette and her friends in the next volume!

Dear Unfamiliar,

What audience is this intended for? Adult or YA? Huh?

Oh well, it was quirky.

Planchette feels like a disappointment. She has no friends and she struggles with any magic that isn't kitchen magic. But now she's gotten a great deal on a house in a new town--a fresh start. Once she arrives, however, she discovers the root of the great deal: the house is haunted. In her quest to exorcise her house" Planchette meets several new friends who all have problems of their own. The town misfits band together to help themselves and one another in this heartfelt graphic novel.

Author and illustrator, Haley Newsome skillfully plots an easy-to-follow and charming tale of the importance of the bonds of friendship. Artfully sprinkling in bits of murder, mystery, and curses, Newsome weaves a spellbinding tale.

This was okay. I found the visual style almost too busy. I like the characters, but I don't know that I would continue with the series.

Absurdly cute with fantastic little details - i.e. when Winston the rabbit speaks his speech bubble has rabbit ears, the sleeves on Planchette's dress are skulls, Kiki from Ghibli had a shout-out, their eyes showed little images reflecting their emotions and thoughts (which I didn't really like at first, but found it endearing by the end), and lots more of those cute little tidbits that really build up a sweet and cozy atmosphere.
