This is the perfect second chance book. Leo is absolute perfect. Mary damaged in her own ways, but overcomes the hurdle just to believe in love again.

I liked the writing style and how the book is set up, but the FMC annoyed me.

I wanted to love this but I have to admit, it was a struggle.

I love Mary, and I love Leo -- individually. Sadly, I'm not a fan of this pairing. I didn't find them a good match. Separately and individually, they were both strong characters, especially Mary. I love how she was able to stand up for herself and how she was confident in her own skin.

I don't know what it is but I didn't enjoy their romance. They had good banter and there were moments that I enjoyed reading them interact with each other. But for the most part, there was a disconnect or something lacking, in my opinion.

What made me happy was that I finally got to see a lot more interaction between the other characters as a friend group! I also enjoyed the premise of Leo and Mary being online friends before, but I did find Leo's reasoning for what went down a bit weak. I was expecting something more but what I was given was predictable.

I do hope other people would enjoy this more than I did. Sadly, it's not for me, and now I'm just in a slump. I need a different sports romance to get me over this.
