Lark gets kicked out of school, She goes home in shame, but she's given the opportunity to saver her family from a debt they owe a prominent family in Verse. Unfortunately, it all goes very very wrong.

This was a solid book with a solid story. I loved Lark as a flawed FMC. I thought the steamy scenes were a little, misplaced? Like they happened at really odd times that made me go WHY NOW? Overall, an enjoyable read.

I am finding it difficult to find the words to reflect such a unique piece of work.

This book was quite different to a lot of the books I normally read. The language is dark and poetic, and the story is just the same. This particular story follows Lark and her journey through Bratrayl, love, and hope, with gods and mythical phantoms playing into the mix. This book is nothing short of hard-hitting.

I enjoyed the pace of the book; it didn't feel rushed for how short the story is in terms of pages. The characters were well thought out and had good development as the story progressed, which was exceptionally satisfying to read. The only downside to this book is the length in some ways, while I did enjoy the pacing to me because I liked this story and the premise of it, I would have loved for it to be longer and more explored in terms of the world, the gods and how things go for her old friends at the school.

All things considered, this book has a gorgeous cover, an original plot, a languid tempo at points, but clever execution. For fans of unique romantic thrillers, it is highly recommended because it provides a welcome representation of the LGBTQ community.

Every aspect of this fell flat for me in the most disappointing way.

While the plot and overall story was simplistic, it was still a fun and enjoyable read. The relationships between the characters was certainly the best part.

A dreamy fall into stranger tides, sad girls gather here.

Dark Academia meets perhaps a conversation about the loyalty we feel to generational responsibility? Perhaps a coming of age? Perhaps a haunt of a different kind entirely? I felt the cobwebs in the corners throughout this read and I can imagine you will too as we bounce from past to present, puzzle piecing together a darkening poetic plot, and unfolding betrayal.

It's a dream like trance were in and while I understood the characters, and saw the whimsy, I wish I had more into the workings of the world and the stakes at play. While this one wasn't for me in every way, I have no doubt it certainly will recieve rave review. So if you want to walk the shores ghosts do this one might be for you!

โ€œI hold her tightly, feeling the frantic beat of her pulse in my own chest. She kissed me, the shared taste of our sorrow as bitter as the sea. I wish I could keep her this close forever, fold her inside the structure of my bones, tuck her safe beneath my heart.โ€

Tenderly, I Am Devoured is a masterpiece of a novel filled with haunting, lyrical prose. A bisexual gothic daydream exploring themes of ritual & religion, family dynamics, & class divides. A story of opposites: the disparity between loving brothers & abusive fathers, sprawling mansions & country cottages, academia & rural life, gods & mortals, friendship & betrayal. The characters & the relationships between them that ebb & flow like the tide are complemented beautifully by the settings, with descriptions so vivid they are almost an assault on the senses; the scent of sea salt & wildflowers, the crash of waves & the whisper of turned pages & footsteps through galleries, the taste of blood. An utterly perfect novel.

I really enjoyed the fairytale/mythological elements of this story. The prose was beautiful and lyrical and gave the story an overall ethereal vibe, like I was reading it through fog.

I would have loved for this to be a little longer so that it could give more space for the romances to develop and for the world's lore to be explored deeper. I loved the queernormative part of this world, but I would have liked the relationships to have more time to build up and I did find the dynamic between the siblings verged a bit too close at times. But, overall, I found this an enjoyable read and would recommend it if you're a fan of folklore-woven stories (with polygamory!)

โ€œI pretend that I am in Therionโ€™s arms. His feathered wings are enfolded around me. When I say Iโ€™ll be his bride, he smiles at me, and his teeth are sharp.โ€

This is the most ethereal, haunting tale. I felt constantly torn โ€“ I could not tell if I was in the most beautiful dream or my worst nightmare. The writing is atmospheric and utterly divine โ€“ I was completely transfixed.

It is not the most action-packed plot. No, that is not the point. These characters, the story, the writingโ€ฆit will cast a lasting presence. One that is so profound it sinks deep within your bones, and you will wonder how you ever survived without this sensation.
If you are a lover of A Study in Drowning, A Dark and Drowning Tide, or Boys with Sharp Teeth, you will be OBSESSED with this.

Always remember, reading is extremely personal and very subjective, we are all allowed to have different opinions. That is absolutely okay and beautiful. Happy reading. โœจ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿซถ
