Not my favorite Meg Cabot book, but not horrible, either. It was nice to read a book of hers that wasn't setting itself up for a sequel.

reread - 3 stars

It didn't live up to my memories :(

It was cute and a little strange, but not life altering.

Teen love story. Thought it was cute with a little magic thrown in. A story about family, acceptance and being different.

Sometimes, just sometimes, one needs to slip back into easier, simple books. Back before the interplanetary politics and realities of genetic manipulation and complicated geometric shapes of love relationships and deep poignant thought books were the main read. Just a straight forward book.

I picked up Jinx because A) I needed an uncomplicated story and 2) I needed a book that started with a J. If you know Meg Cabot, you have an idea of what kind of story it was...young teens, awkward but still stunning in their own way, trying to fit into a new environment, the most gorgeous of love interests, and a minor conflict to keep things curious. This book delivered.

What I had neglected to take into account was the dull predictability. Oh yeah, I have life experience and I can certainly list about 6 books that have that same general plot that I've read over the year. I get it, of course it's cliche because it's life and it comforts us. I just forgot that part, so I'm listening and asking "Really? You can't see that he's doing it because he likes you? Sheesh." And the conflict, and the "mean girl" and the and the and the.

I was walking and listening to the audio book and it kept me company and kept me going. SO I guess it did a good job.

3.5 stars. This was the dumbest book I've ever read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

MC's voice draws the reader into her world and doesn't let go. Very entertaining.

meh, only mildly slightly entertaining. mostly boring. only listened to it due to lack of better downloadable audiobook availability
