From the moment I started this book, I was hooked. I found myself looking around to see if anyone heard my burst out in a laugh. It did drag toward the end, but I still think it was a good book.
Jean, aka Jinx, has moved from Idaho to New York City to live with her Aunt, Uncle and cousins. She is trying to escape a stalker and gain a fresh start. When Jean arrives she finds that her cousin Tory is much different than the cousin she remembers. Tory is convinced that she is a witch and will do anything in her power to make Jean's life miserable. Cabot writes a entertaining story about a love triangle and a bit of magic.
I've wanted to read this book for YEARS but never got the chance to buy it. Finally, after 342525 years, I got to download the e-book version and revel, once again, on Meg Cabot's brilliance.

AWESOME spellbinding(somewhat literally) book that I couldn't put down. Finished it in a day. :) It was wonderful, romantic, and slightly horrific at parts. :D I definitely recommend this book.
I plowed right through this book. It was fun and easy to read but not in any way a masterpiece.
Jean is...spectacularly dumb. Like I can't believe this girl isn't just running into poles constantly because she can't see what is right in front of her face.

Some fan casting^
Her cousin Tory is evil beyond all belief. Like this girl goes into full on murder mode because Jean doesn't want to join her coven.

How I imagine Tory^
Yet Jean constantly falls for Tory's tricks.
Jean's friend, Zach, is working so hard to get Jean to understand that he likes her. He buys her tickets to see a violinist that she loves. He asks her to the spring social. But no...stupid, stupid Jean cannot get the hint. If I were him, I would have given up long ago. I would have especially given up when Tory and Jean start accusing each other of witchcraft and displaying their handmade voodoo dolls at the Spring Social cause any normal human would think that shit's cray. Yet perfect Zach endures it all like a trooper.

Perfect Zac is too good for this shit.
Through all of that though...I thought the book was pretty fun. I like books about witches, so this was bound to hit my sweet spot no matter how dumb. It's clean so you could recommend it to almost any middle grade+ kid.

I was completely impressed by Meg Cabot with this book. I thought it was going to be a fluffy, pointless, fun novel. It turned out being serious, hilarious, adventurous, and exciting all at once. One of my favorites by her. :D
