A super interesting read. I highly recommend the audiobook version so you can hear the proper pronunciation and dialects of the various languages referenced throughout the book. The story is engaging and complex. It felt like it was part memoir, part sociology lecture, and part history lesson. It tackled difficult subjects in a logical and calm manner and offered insights that truly made me think. I learned a ton through Noah's storytelling and would recommend this book to anyone wanting to broaden their horizons.

This book was such a smooth read, not because it was simple per se but because Trevor Noah is a master storyteller. I knew of but didn't truly grasp the lived experience of South African apartheid going in, and he exposes the absurdity of illogical racial policies and the resulting socioeconomic norms, taboos, and divisions in a way that is both funny and easy to understand.
