Four stars for the last chapter.

My god this book was a wild fucking ride. I love an unlikable protagonist so I didn’t hate it, but she’s the worst. It’s a really good depiction of how an addiction to anything, really, can control your life and that you have to want to be better in order to be better.

That ending was wild.

a gorgeous tale (tail?) exploring  the horrors that come from loving love more than you love yourself, or anything else. i almost stopped reading a few times, first from fatphobia and then from the discomfort of seeing myself in the narrator’s desperation. i’m so glad i kept on. everything sits perfectly balanced on the rocky edge- between self-destruction and growth,  judgment and empathy, fantasy and reality, love and hate. the ending was pitch perfect.

Really bad in my opinion. Bad writing, bad story, bad characters. The main character Lucy is a really bad person and the rest of the story doesn't redeem that. The disgusting details of her life weren't funny to me so I did not enjoy reading any of the book. Many parts were absurd and the dialogue was simple so ut was quite easy and quick to read.

I really feel like this book had some interesting ideas and some really compelling sections
(namely the chunk near the end when she’s contemplating suicide via having Theo drown her)
but the main character was so annoying that I literally could not enjoy it.

Also I think Lucy would be a terf (too much “divine feminine” crap from her)

I kept starting the book and then getting annoyed by the main character and stopping it, to the point where I dreaded that this was in my Libby queue. Not for me
