Just wtf.  It was good on the emotional soul searching part but everything else was just too painful to read. Lucy is so so terrible and obviously a love addict who's ex boyfriend strung her along. She goes off the rails but not so totally that you can feel for her or excuse her.  The very graphic detailed sex scenes also felt unnecessary or just added for shock value.

This book was complicated. It explored a lot of what it means to be human. It was reflective for sure. It was ugly and it was beautiful. A little weird, but fun too.

i was disgusted in so many ways (other than the obvious ones), weirded out and then surprisingly left floored by the ending of this book... that is why i cannot give this book a rating for the life of me bc i have no idea how i feel about it, but it was an EXPERIENCE nontheless

A sisterhood of unhinged women, a merman, and the meaninglessness of existence swallowing them all.

It reminded me of Fleabag, but darker, more American, and more hopeless. It was also very funny.

If you’re up for all or that, it’s a stellar read.

The whole dog part ruined this for me personally, other than that I thought it was funny and interesting. Oh and you have to read like half the book to finally get to the merman. Would still recommend if you like weird books.

i read this bc i absolutely loved broder’s “milk fed” however i sadly feel that set my expectations far too high.  i felt like i was walking through mud to finish this as the first half was super slow.

however, i think her commentary on the emotional void being filled addiction and love was very beautiful. i appreciate the book for being truthful about how the depths of depression feel - unfortunately that’s not an aesthetically pleasing or enjoyable topic when written about genuinely.

overall, i think this is a good book for anyone  experiencing a breakup or attempting to understand how to fill an emotional void.

A very weird book that I very much enjoyed. If you wanted to like the Midnight Library but didn’t, this is a cheeky look at the Void and what we do to cope.
