Interview with the Vampire was a really good read. I was worried that this book was going to be wordy like a Charles Dickens novel, but I am happy to announce that I was wrong.

This book was a rollercoaster ride, and having never seen any other content about this story I truly went in blind. This piece of media has such an impact on so many different creators today and has impacted so many things I enjoyed growing up.

It really is an interview with a vampire. Of Louis' life before his turning, and his entire existence as a vampire up until the moment of the actual interview. Very descriptive and full of character. Took a long time for me to get through, but I really tried to soak in all of the atmosphere used here.

Interview with the Vampire took me 9 hours and 25 minutes to read.

The protagonist is kind of infuriating because he's very pathetic and sad but not in any particularly compelling way. Sequences of events are a bit unclear/hard to follow at times. Not as "erotic" as the back cover so enthusiastically proclaimed it to be. My favorite characters didn't show up as often as I wanted them to, but I think they might appear in later books so I will be continuing the series since it's just intriguing enough to be willing to stick around. There were some good parts, either with writing or storytelling, but overall it really didn't get anywhere close to the hype for me.

This was my first foray into Anne Rice. I have always loved the movie, so finally decided to read the book. Beautifully written. The movie followed the book so well, which only makes me like it (the movie) more.

It was really cool to read this again, 20 years after the first time, and it was just as spellbinding! On to The Vampire Lestat!
