like 5 pages in i remembered my sister telling me about a japanese book about a girl in the palace solving mysteries and characters with chinese names i just never knew she meant this one cause lowkey i had no idea what this was about before

I enjoy the anime so much that I had to get my hands on the light novels. If you like the anime, you'll love the book. Much of it was exactly the same, but there were some details in the book that helped me understand a few things that happened in the anime better.

Yes, I am obsessed with this series, Maomao is such a fun protagonist, reading her inner monologues is very entertaining (also loving how this one novel covered over half of the first season, I'll have loads to look forward to with the other novels)
