i really love the anime so the fact that it took me so long to get through the light novel  is so devastating to me 😭

i loved getting to see more of maomao’s inner thoughts and observations in the rear palace, but sometimes it felt so dry & stilted, i couldn’t help but mourn the sense of liveliness and spirit the anime put into the story :/

i still want to continue the rest of the volumes!! especially since the most recent one is well ahead of the anime’s current timeline. 

i also did enjoy some parts of my reading experience for the most part so we’ll just leave it at that :’)
