Having LOVED the anime, I was so excited to try the Manga and the light novel, and found myself enjoying the light novel just that much more, if only because it just gave the ability to give me that much more. The anime is truly a very faithful adaptation through the first volumes and allowed me to enjoy the story all over again in another format. I still love how blunt Maomao is, how sly Jinshi is, and how kind Gyokuyo is.
