I do not know what i was expecting from It being one of the most sell books of all time, but It was a huge disapointment.
It was dull most of the time, i think you can only take the end and the begining. It has zero character devolement during the novel.
I started with dickens with this book and i am not sure if i Will continue.

A very-well written story. Dickens clearly knows how to build momentum and pace a story in the same way a conductor leads an orchestra. I felt the ending left me wanting for a little bit more though, although I guess good stories do that.

This may be an odd thing to say, but one of the things I appreciated most about this book is how well-structured it is. Everything is intertwined, everything comes full circle. By the end, everything is wrapped up in a neat little bow.
It’s really satisfying to pick this book apart because of how much meaning Dicken’s squeezes into each page.

Classic
Fabulous and timeless tale of the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. Told from the perspective of heartfelt characters.

you know, with all the words this man is using I’m not particularly surprised that sometimes they managed to slap so well. An editor would, potentially, have helped though.
Madame Defarge I do not know if I want to be you or be with you, but I do know that you were an inspiration to me, morals or not. I wish France was real.

First time reading Dickens! I had a bit of a rough start when I had to Sparknotes what the heck the first chapter was about b/c I didn't know what a "Dover mail" was. Once I got into it, I got hooked. The story was super engaging.
This first read was for the story and plot. My next re-read will be for the language. I was so eager to find out what will happen next, that I didn't always take the time to slow down and appreciate these SENTENCES!
Also, while I was reading this, my friend told me that the level of wealth inequality today is larger than it was at the start of the French Revolution. The vivid descriptions of absurd poverty and absurd wealth were eerily relevant to to-day........
