It seems like so long ago that I read Disruption that I couldn't remember what I really liked about it. Because as I was listening to this on audiobook I kept thinking 'Who cares, get on with the story'. I wasn't getting sucked in and I was seriously thinking of not finishing it. But I saw lots of reviews raving about it so I kept going.

Sadly, by the end I only felt slightly more interested. I'm glad I continued though because I was satisfied with the ending and all my questions were answered.

It's unfortunate I didn't like it as much as I the previous book, but I still recommend reading this very well written duo of books.

An awesome book with a kick ass heroine, fantastic heroes, and exciting plot. This is what YA novels should be likr. If there were an Oscars for book characters, Gus should totally win best supporting character!

I liked the ending. I thought it was more realistic that
they didn't give up the technology all together and just put limits in place to prevent extreme positive or negative reactions. I also thought that Quentin and Sebastian giving the company over to the UN but keeping the rest of their incredibly wealthy family's businesses and assets was realistic too.

I enjoyed Quentin's struggle to come to terms with Maggie's reprehensible actions while still feeling strongly about her. And Maggie's struggle with PTSD from her time as a prisoner was also nice because it would have been a disservice to her character if it was just glossed over.
I did think that this book had quite a few plot conveniences and things that went way too easily, but at the end of the day, it's okay for YA.
Overall pretty good, and satisfying ending.

Disruption and Corruption were very exciting when I first heard about them as I don't often read much sci-fi, especially in YA so I jumped at the chance to read them. While I really enjoyed Disruption and Corruption, I can't can't help but feel that they remind of YA's past.

Disruption and Corruption are YA that follow Maggie in a world where bands of the owner monitor the aspect and the compatibility of two individual people. The match predicts the matches of Quentin and Maggie and the story evolves from here...

Much of the plot of Disruption especially was quite new and I found it quite exciting and I remember binge reading it after a couple of days, however, when I picked up Corruption something was off. I found that I was no longer enjoying the story as I had before. It was no longer this fresh and interesting story and felt much like I had read it before, this could be partly to do with the fact that they were originally published in 2014 and I feel like this was clear when reading them.

The books do often feel like they were part of this old YA period with lines like "I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding" which meant I had to put the book down and breathe myself for a while as this is books that I read anymore.

This is by no means the book's fault and it is a very addicting series regardless of how familiar it feels as it is binge-worthy just because of the romance and if they will be canon or not. There are only two books so why wouldn't you?

The characters were very much a key reason about why I did enjoy this book as I really did enjoy Maggie as a character as she was very strong willed and it was nice to see a YA book that had a good family dynamic. I also really enjoyed Sam and is the basis of the best friend never got the girl.

Disruption and Corruption are also OzYA books and being one of the first of this that I read I would love to read more.

The Verdict:

Disruption and Corruption are together a good duology that equally balances a great science fiction story with a great romance.

This is a review for the Duology, not just Corruption.
I like books where technology has become too relied upon, I think they send an important message and we really should pay more attention to them. They may be fictional but I do believe they won't be so fictional for long.
This is one with a strong kick ass female protagonist who will go after what she wants without hesitation. She stays strong to what she believes even when it becomes personal.
I did feel that the second book Corruption wasn't as engaging as Disruption and I think that has a lot to do with the love interests. Sorry, give me heroines kick assing over a soppy love story any day! I felt she became a bit piney (is that a word? Tough, it is now) and whiny over the course of Corruption and ok, I get it, I understood what she was going through but it started to feel like it was taking over the main plot.
Overall I liked the sass levels, the main plot and the kick assing but please stop making females out to be in desperate need of a mans shoulder to get them through.

Actual ratings are
Disruption 4 stars, Corruption 3.5 stars.
