This was cute...very unique set up for the plot. I would have loved to see the reptile room in all its glory.
I always wanted to read these as a kid and since I can easily read them in a day as an adult, they're fun breathers from the denser stuff I tend to read. On to the next!

Love these books, but I think the biggest hindrance to my enjoying them is the homicidal rage I experience at Mr. Poe's obliviousness and any moment adults shush the children & refuse to listen to them/their warnings. Which, of course, happens a lot so it is really distressing. It's like the childlike helplessness which was plied to such unsettling psychological effect in Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane but played for laughs -- but it's still just so painful. Which is the point, that one shouldn't patronise/infantilise/disregard/condescend to kids, but ugh, still.
