It's been a while since Hazel and Daisy took me on an adventure. And that's mostly because I knew this was a Christmas themed story and I actually wanted to read it during the Christmas season. After waiting for quite some time to pick this next book in the series up, my hunger and curiosity had peaked. I actually had another book coming in that I really wanted to read, but this one kept pulling too and eventually I picked this one.

This book has everything a Christmas Murder Mystery should have. We're visiting an amazing setting, Cambridge, all decorated for Christmas. We are taught quite a few things about the politics and world views at the time, both on women and on non-white looking people. And we're confronted with quite an interesting mystery, starting without a murder this time, for our two favorite detective societies to deal with.

What I enjoyed immensely is that it's quite clear that both our leading ladies have learned from everything that has happened during the previous case. They are way more understanding of each other and they've also learned that when it comes to a murder case it's always better to work together, because two know more than one. There was no friendship drama in this book and yet it kept me glued to the edge of my seat.

That's also because I really liked this case and the way our detective societies were solving it. What I enjoy in this series, is that quite often when I think something, Hazel and/or Daisy come up with the same idea. I therefore never have the feeling that they're missing quite obvious clues. Although they are still teenagers, and clearly aren't doing everything the professional way, it's clear they're both incredibly smart and good at this.

I can't wait to dive into the next book!

The 5th adventure of the Detective Society is just as brilliant as the rest! With every new story I love Daisy and Hazel more (Hazel especially) and as always the setting is so perfectly described that you feel swept along the Cambridge streets with them. Another wonderfully plotted out mystery and I already want the next.
