🌶️🌶️🌶️

Is there any other series which gives me these intense levels of serotonin? No. Not even close.

While I am devastated that the Brown sisters' journeys are coming to a close, what a HIGH they are going out on!! (And, in case y'all haven't heard, Hibbert is working on a new book in Skybriar, so if you're not quite ready to leave that beautiful little town, she's got you covered.)

I loved seeing into Eve's head... she is such an enigma to everyone in her life, including her two sisters, so finally seeing into her heart gave me so much more empathy for her. The music she mentions throughout slaps, so that's another bonus for readers. My favorite part of her, however, is her incredible GROWTH through the novel. Man, I loooove it when we have heroines who are strong, independent, and who are not afraid to grow and do that hard work of self-discovery!

Jacob. Sweet baby Jacob. I loved his frosty exterior, so imagine my glee when we got to see his mushy insides. He and Eve are one of those duos who make each other better by challenging each other (but in a healthy way). I appreciated his gentle encouragement, his quiet but steady confidence, and his unexpectedly sexy side. Both he and Eve brought down the house with that STEAM! And their dry sense of humor had me CACKLING... Hibbert certainly knows how to make me laugh.

The discussion of autism in this book is so important. Without saying too much (spoilers!), the topic was handled with care and respect while still being honest. Because I read to learn about other people, places, ideas, etc., I love reading about people and characters who are not like me, so in this book, I cherished time spent with character(s) who were perhaps not neurotypical. (Of course, #OwnVoices is optimal for this "education," but I'll take diversity in books where- and however I can get it.)

TL;DR: This was a sugary-sweet & steamy-spicy serotonin BLAST. I read it straight through, then went back and re-read it because I loved it so much. Talia Hibbert is the master of funny romance, and if you have even the remotest of interest in this story, I implore you: read it. The best escapism there is.

Having read the other two books in the Brown Sisters series the bar was set pretty high for Act Your Age Eve Brown. Talia Hibbert didn't let me down. I loved this book so much. Act Your Age Eve Brown, focuses on the youngest sister Eve, a young lady desperate to step into "adulthood" but experiencing difficulty in the process. When her parents' decide to cut her off, she literally runs into her dream job, and Jacob, a young man with Autism that turns her world on its head.

I loved this book. It was absolutely precious in terms of the romance aspect. I loved again that Talia made disability a part of the narrative without it being the entire narrative. I loved how Eve absolutely outlines the confusion so many young people feel when they experience failure and then don't know what to do from there. I also loved that it was in the UK, in the 2020s and ignored covid-19 (this was in content warning/info) in the beginning of the book. I was the perfect escape that I didn't know I needed.

The conclusion to the Brown sisters trilogy is light, lovely, and sweet, with touching hidden depths - just like Eve herself. This is a really joyous read, and the two main characters are absolutely gorgeous; their romance is really heartfelt and swoon-worthy. (Although I think Chloe and Red remain my favourite couple in the family. Just.)

I did feel that the wider context of the book, both in terms of emotion and secondary characters, was a little underdeveloped, but this leaves plenty of room for a potential spin-off series - which I would absolutely love to see!

I love Talia Hibberts romances and I loved all the Brown Sisters series. I think this one is probably my second favorite. This author does a great job have diversity within her books without it feeling  per formative. I also love the way they portray plus-size women with fat phobia never being the main narrative of the story. This novel is a great enemies to lovers relationship and the couple has great chemistry. Eve is a very lovable protagonist and you can’t help but to root for her throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what Talia Hibbert does next.

Thank you to Hear Our Voices Tours and Avon Books for the arc of this book!

Eve Brown feels like she is constantly a disappointment to those around her--not as smart or driven as her sisters, she can't choose a career, and she still lives at home.  When her parents have a fight with her about committing to a job, Eve drives away to clear her head--and falls into a perfect opportunity to prove she can be mature on her own.

Meanwhile, Jacob is in desperate need of a new chef at his B & B, but he's very particular about who can do it, when Eve crashes (literally) into his life.

This book! This. Book! I don't think it could have been more adorable. I really don't think it would be possible. Talia Hibbert has truly blown me away with all three books in the Brown Sisters romance trilogy!

This book shows that no matter how many times the world tries to shove you down for being "not normal," you can get back up and find your person, your place, your time. You don't have to have everything figured out when you're young (a reminder that I seem to be needing more and more as I start to admit that I'm actually an adult now) and you don't have to be society's version of perfect to be the perfect you.

This book gives me heart eyes.

The writing is phenomenal, sexy, funny, relatable. The characters are so well-developed and easy to love. The plot is cute and meaningful. It was everything I needed.

This book comes out on March 9, 2021.
