Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It takes a little while to get used to the terminology (a bit like a LOTR/Game of Thrones book); it's an incredibly detailed, cleverly written book with a whole new universe and planet to get used to. It's so well written and the story moves at a good pace. Not my usual choice of material - I'm not usually a sci-fi fan. But this is so well written, the universe is so well described, it's so colourful and creative... It's just a really great, fantastical story.

I watched the movie first and got interested in the flow of the plot. I very much liked the story and its pacing. But it feels like reading only the first book is enough. Almost everything I wanted to happen happened at the end of the first book.

PS: But I am a bit disappointed with how the story went. I wouldn't say I liked it as much as I thought I would after watching the movie. Something feels out of place. Can't figure out what?.

It has it flaws and it was very dense but it does live up to being a classic. It was darker in different ways than I expected. I got the impression that it would have an epic ending where Paul was a great hero with a happily ever after but it actually ends on more of a forboding note. I'm both looking forward to the next book and dreading it at the same time. The story has hooked me.

Once you get past the pacing issues, misogyny, and Chosen One complex, it's pretty good.
