Wow. An Iranian man obsessed with death decides to write a book about martyrs, and meets an artist doing an exhibit on her death bed. A beautiful story of grief, depression, and the meaning of life whil discussing racism, immigration, alcoholism, americas failings in foreign affairs, and lgbtq. Would recommend and would read again

There are lines in this book that will take the breath from your chest. I couldn't put it down, knew I was devouring it too quickly, and finished it almost sick to my stomach from the devastating tenderness of Akbar's writing.
