Not what I expected, especially after reading The Fault in Our Stars

I really enjoyed reading this book, but can't help but think that at the end if it all I missed an important point the Author was trying to make subliminally.
It started off as a normal story full of teen angst and usual school rebellion drama, but when one of the main characters dies, her friends try to solve the mystery of whether it was a suicide or accident. It followed how they tried to solve this mystery and went at a good pace, but with the last 2 pages to go, like I said above, I feel like I missed something.
Overall I enjoyed John Green's writing style and would read more of his work in the future.

I'm not as big of a fan of this book as I was with The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. I didn't really care what happened mid way through, it just sort of... Happened.
I wasn't as emotionally connected to Alaska or Miles, and the characters themselves had weird attributes that made me want to avoid them. The Colonel can recite every country Capitol in the world and Miles memorized famous last words?
Maybe it's a boarding school thing.
Aside from that, I liked the thought of a simple high school novel without something drastic happening. (TFIOS!) it was a nice break in between.
John Green again amazed me by his magnificent use of language like in all of his novels. Though this book was very anticlimactic. I didn't like the ending. It just kind of fell....
I don't know, not as big of a fan, but still a fan.

Read in honour of Banned Books week. John Green can do no wrong. I actually liked this better than The Fault in Our Stars, it was emotional, but it didn't feel sucker punchish.
