The setting and mythology of this series is still so fascinating to me, but this book seemed so unnecessary. It just went back and forth between the main characters trusting each other, getting burned, not trusting each other, getting burned - & then repeat 10 times. It was repetitive and I found Zéilie more annoying than in the first book.

"Children of Virtue and Vengeance" continues the saga of Zélie and Amari as they struggle to restore peace to Orïsha, a land now torn by civil war following the return of magic. Zélie must navigate political intrigue and deadly battles while forming uneasy alliances to overthrow a tyrannical regime. Amidst personal sacrifices and shifting loyalties, the protagonists face challenges of leadership and the cost of power.

Dang, for me this was a let-down after the 1st book. I had to work hard to finish it, it just felt like it was very repetitive.
It would have had 2 stars BUT it got THREE because Bahni Turpin was the narrator. She is one of the best narrators out there!!
