Was I expecting too much from Tomi Adyemi when I read Children of Blood and Bone?!
Children of Virtue and Vengeance starts off well but halfway through the book, it becomes annoying and confusing. In the first book I really liked Zelie, but in this book she is unbearable. Although I started to like Amari in the beginning, she too becomes irritating by the end of this book! Also, too many characters made the plot of COVAV so complicated. It was hard to remember who was who!

The first book was amazing, this one not so much. Zélie was só whiny that make me sick. Tzaine was missing for almost the whole book. And I love grey moral characters, but I drew the line in gennocide. How to come hack from that? Röen was the only salvation and that was because he said some hard thuths to Zélie. It was about time.

As much as I love this world and these characters, Zélie, Amari & Inan have to be the most exhausting and frustrating main characters ever! None of them can get out of their own heads! So stubborn and self deprecating! 🤣 I want to smack them all! … mom problems! But I really really want to see good things for them!! Fingers crossed for book 3!

A perfect sequel to the first, the last 100 pages had me sobbing at multiple parts, thinking about the analogies to our world while still connecting with the characters. I cannot wait to delve into the third!!!

Decent second book, a little bit hungover as I read it so quickly. Really excited for the third book and will give the movie adaptation a shot.

I was so bored with this book. I’m usually less thrilled with the second book in a series but this felt like a waste of time. The same thing happened over and over. There was no development in the characters and they were all incredibly stubborn and unlikeable. What happened?? Book 1 was soo good.
