By the way, mereka punya nama asli kok. No worries!

To make it specified, pekerjaan dalam lingkup perhotelan.

This is what I imagine stans to be like if instead of being fans of celebrities they were just really into regular people.

A unique book and narration but not very exciting. Overall mundane with the most stirring element of the story being how delulu the narrator is.

It’s interesting that what we are reading is not a narrator who is simply like a “fly” on the wall but an actual person who is telling the reader what is happening… because she’s stalking the woman in the purple skirt. The narrative style is one of my favorite things about this book. The narrator does these things for the Woman in the Purple Skirt to feel important and be seen. So much so, she is determined to become the Woman in the Purple Skirt’s friends. She records every single one of her moves. A part of ending was open ended and left me with so many questions; the other part of the ending was satisfying especially after following the narrator throughout the whole book.

SUCH a fun read that only took me about an hour to get through. The prose is direct but enticing.

a quick, gripping, weird and chillingly entertaining read.
i loved the simplicity and thrill of the story and narration. also liked that it was written from the stalker's perspective, so whenever someone addressed the narrator, it felt weird in a way, like breaking the fourth wall.
overall, strong and powerful and easy to get through due to masterful yet minimalistic language.
a story so simple, however, that the re-readability factor is rather low.

what a strange little book. it could've gone in a lot of different directions, but it didn't - which was slightly disappointing as I was expecting it to be more dark and twisted.
mostly a story about obsession, japanese work culture, the treatment of women, and the desire to be seen, which is exactly what you would think this would be about. it was good, and I didn't struggle at all to finish it as it was captivating enough. just..... fell a little flat for me.

The Woman in the Purple Skirt intrigues The Woman in the Yellow Cardigan so much so she follows her every move, and silently helps her get a job at the hotel where she works. The woman in the purple skirt attracts the attention of her boss as she does well in her job training, and eventually starts a chain of events that gets everyone talking.

This was a cute little quick translated read. I felt like this novel didn't quite hit the spot in the end, but could have been part of an ongoing series of stories.

As quickly as I started to like the Woman in the Purple Skirt, her downfall was just as quick and, dare I say, enjoyable to watch.

The unresolved issues I have with this story is mostly all with the Woman in the Yellow Cardigan. I wanted to know her story, just everything about her. And I definitely wanted to know what happened to Hino, where did she go with what was in the locker.
