I picked this book up at the store because it was advertised as an Avatar: The Last Air Bender meets Pokémon fantasy adventure. I got the Avatar magic system inspiration but I didn’t get any of the Pokémon.

If you pick this book up here are some things to expect.

1. Pacing: I’m surprised that this book got a medium paced rating. If it is considered medium paced it is on the slower end of the spectrum for medium.

2. Multi POV: expect to jump to a different  character’s POV each chapter.

3. LGBTQIA representation

4. Detail dense

5. Interesting setting, characters. and magic system

A fantastic read with some very interesting themes exploring imperialism and colonialism, all in a riveting fantasy setting. Knocked down to 4.5 stars only because of technical issues, some of the writing /story structure didn’t really work for me.
