rebeccazh's review
read this as belated sex ed. the author is very funny and i really had to laugh at some of her words. this book is also quite informative, though it mainly assumes heterosexuality; there is some mention and some delving into LGBT sexuality. my biggest complaint is that the way she answers some of the more sensitive questions is really not very helpful...

Read and reviewed for a parenting group. Thorough, informative, straightforward, friendly to most orientations! My only reservation is the binary-geared language; otherwise, healthy approach to sexuality. A 4.5 rating would be more accurate for me (I rounded up).

I would challenge a few things about the content of this book:
Discussion of anatomy relies on a non-existent binary (girls have a vulva/vagina, boys have a penis/testicles).
In the section on menstruation, it is stated: "If you find yourself craving foods that are greasy or fatty, it is OK to indulge a little bit. Just don't overdo it." This creates an uncomfortable link to body image and shame.
and more to come...
