I'm not particularly adept at reading non-fiction literature, and especially not practised enough to pretend to write an educated & verbose review on one. Still, I can tell you what 'Losing Eden' has done for me.

It has not only slightly altered and reaffirmed thoughts and values that I already held, but persuaded me to change my habits, which if simple words on a page can do that, surely that is the purpose and intent behind the pen that writes these words on an individual scale?

The time and location of my reading vary, but it's a constant that I'll normally try to at least read a couple of pages before bed. During my time with 'Losing Eden', I found it almost impossible to do so. I read all of this page almost exclusively in the public parks and gardens around my city. It just felt wrong to read about the wondrous effects of nature while sitting sedentary in a building. I laid down on blankets. smelling the grass when no one was looking so I didn't look like a total fool. I started to take more notice of trees and plants, something that I did more in previous summers but found I subconsciously did not do as much now living in a city. I even stopped and smelt the flowers. How cliche.

Whatever chapter I had just concluded, whatever study I had just read about became my next conversation topic. This book lead me to spend more time talking and being in nature than I otherwise would have the past three weeks and I believe will propel me to continue to do so.
And for that, I thank Lucy Jones and Luis for the recommendation!

Good but uses big vocabulary words for our student population. Too similar to this year's book.
