I stumbled upon this book in my search for another book like Mexican Gothic. This certainly checked some of the spooky boxes - creepy house, mysterious things happening, untrustworthy people…

I enjoyed reading it and I recommend if you are interested in gothic horror and supernatural suspense. There’s also a forbidden love element that I liked!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I wasn't surprised by the reveals much at all, but I found the horror elements to be thrillingly unsettling, and the historical setting and characters were beautifully written.
