this felt like a horror story omg and it really adds that I'm 24 and reading this in the middle of the night. You may wonder, why a horror story? It's the fear of fucking up, losing people, never getting any work done, letting your fucked up parents make you another fucked up person, and becoming so obsessed with people "getting" your work that you hurt anyone and everyone that cares to listen. I don't know, I hated Caroline but I know we're not supposed to like her. She's an alcoholic with self esteem issues and her book that gets attention isn't one that feels true to the rest of her work. She lost herself in her work and it's gonna take a HELL of a lot of work for her to recover and grow as a person overall. School is over and Caroline doesn't have to be the department's indie darling anymore but it will take years for her to let that go, despite all the money, fame, and opportunities it will never fill that hole. That's so sad and terrifying to watch unfold.

TLDR: Lengthy, wordy book that I feel is deep and well written but has a extremely unlikeable protagonis. If you can't handle that, carry on!

I had major deja vu reading this. Maybe I follow the artist on social media? Or picked it up and didn’t finish before? Oh well.

I liked it a lot! I liked how wordy and intense it was. I related to Caroline’s inner (and outer lol) turmoil. But I also resented the way she acted. The dream of being a writer is impossible. The “victory” of being published comes with so many hurdles that it feels impossible not to sell out! I appreciated the many ways this story conveyed the associated feelings.
