"Did what I had to do."
Staggering in it's scale and ambition, intimately twisted in how it writes it's cleverly written ensemble, devastatingly brilliant in it's unique use of paneling and gorgeously grimy art to both surround you with and tear down worldviews.
Uses the unique strengths of it's medium to accomplish feelings, experiences and thought processes that I've never seen properly communicated through any other piece of art. A work that I truly felt in my bones while reading. At it's best, it's genuinely breathtaking with revelations of beauty and sheer terror working in perfect tandem with one another.
One for the ages that were and will be, a cautionary spider-web woven with violence, dreams, power, and the nature of existence itself. Took me a full day to wrap my head around this one once I finished but when it finally clicked I just sat in sheer shock mulling over the implications.
The beauty of a city of fools should be treasured. The clock ticks on, and blood flows in the name of the unattainable. In the end, crooked smiles are all we have left. And even then,
"Nothing ever ends."
Have a great night.

This is a super great graphic novel! It's full of really cool characters with contradicting views which makes it complex, even though half of the time their views are fairly black and white.

Watchmen is an amazing combination of politics, science, and philosophy. The use of history lends it a realism that most comics lack. The characters are human and not at all perfect. The method of filling in backstory while telling the main story is complex and imaginative. Its influence can be seen in everything from characters like Deadpool to movies like the Incredibles. My only criticisim is the failure to include, and explore, a strong female character. In the end, I consider it one of the best books I've read in years.
