Reading Watchmen, I found it enjoyable and thoughtfully crafted, but not quite as groundbreaking as its reputation suggests. The symbolism, color choices, and panel transitions are impressive, and it certainly earned its place in comic book history. While I don’t usually mind unlikable characters, here it felt a bit unrealistic that so many were so cynical and hard to connect with.
When it was first published, Watchmen shook up the superhero genre by presenting flawed, complex characters and exploring darker, more mature themes. It also helped elevate comics as a serious storytelling medium. However, much of what was once revolutionary has since become more common across graphic novels and other forms of media, so the story doesn’t feel as fresh and timeless today.

giving this book 5 stars feels morally complicated because of how it treats women, but i enjoyed re-reading it. it deserves all of the praise it got in the last 40 years

Im used to my graphic novels making things feel light and easy to consume, but this one was really complex. It gave me a lot to think about but I almost feel like I need to read it again to understand it

The best comic book EVEER. No other book has ever done so much for comic books, graphic novels, or the super hero genre as a whole. If you only read one graphic novel read this one (or maybe the Sandman series if you're a girl)
I don't even....I went into a deep depression after this book, because it really affected me. It was so good, and so real, that I think it may be a favorite.
