THIS WAS AMAZING. WHAT DID I JUST READ?
This is the greatest graphic novel I have ever read. The art was really awesome, but the storyline and small details really made it phenomenal. It was so immersive. I really appreciated the details that they put into each scene, but also the sections between chapters (newspaper clippings, magazine articles, etc.) made it incredible. The comic book within the comic book was pretty awesome, too.
The characters... I got really attached to them, but it was a complex relationship. I guess that's because they're complex characters.

This is a re-read for me and I still very much enjoyed it. It was a better reading experience for me this time as I read it physically where I previously read it digitally. I enjoy the art style though it's particularly a favourite and not the draw for me. The themes however and the morality of the characters are excellent in my opinion. It really displayed a raw and more realistic depiction of some of the possible consequences of vigilantism and superheroics. It may feel dates but as it is set during the eighties I personally found it befitting. Overall it's still and excellent graphic novel that I had a great time reading.

لو قلت لي قبل 5 سنوات أنه سيأتي يوم أقرأ فيه رواية لكنت ضحكت عليك, أما لو قلت لي قبل سنة وحيدة من الآن أنني سأقرأ رواية مصورة لضحكت عليك أكثر. لكن ها أنا, تم جذبي إلى هذا العالم الصوري الغريب, في تجربة أولى مع كاتبي المفضل (نيل غايمان) في "مارفل 1602" التي خيبت أمالي كثيراً, لكنني قلت في نفسي, بما أنك دخلت هذا العالم فمن المعيب أن تتركه بدون أن تقرأ أفضل رواية مصورة على الإطلاق.
هذا الوصف قد يبدو مبالغاً فيه, لكن "واتشمن" جيد جداً لدرجة أن قول أي شيء غير هذا عن الرواية يعتبر ضرباً من الغباء. إن (ألن مور) قام بإختلاق عالم معقد بشخصيات فريدة من نوعها, ثم كتب لها قصة تجذبك إليها صفحة بعد صفحة, لتتركك تفكر فيها و تحللها بعد أن تطوي أخر صفحة فيها.
أحببت هذه الرواية بشكل قويّ للغاية لدرجة انني أريد اقتناء نسخة ورقية منها.

Not sure I am any more enlightened by this book than the day I started it, but now I can actually say I've read it. There are some awful parallels to today, which worry me, too.
