While incredibly intense, the turns and nuances that the characters went though we're all internally consistent. the start I disliked all of them and by the end there were a few I actively hated (ozymandias, maybe dr Manhattan) I understood why every action they took felt true and right to them. I'm glad I got to know these people.

Teoksen ilmestymisen jälkeiset kolme vuosikymmentä ovat selkeästi jättäneet jälkensä tarinan vetävyyteen. Näen kyllä, mikä sarjassa on ollut uutta ja hienoa 80-luvulla, ja se näyttäytyy kyllä edelleen loppuun asti suunniteltuna kokonaisuutena, jossa kaikki yksityiskohdat ovat viimeisen päälle hiottuja. Lisäksi tarinassa näkyy selkeästi jonkinlainen filosofinen ihmisyyttä ja supersankarigenreä pohtiva taso, johon en kuitenkaan jaksanut perehtyä sen tarkemmin, koska luin kirjaa unettomina öinä saadakseni unen päästä kiinni, eikä supersankarigenre myöskään ole minulle kovinkaan tuttu.
Kaikesta huolimatta en kokenut minkäänlaista yhteyttä tarinan hahmoihin tai välittänyt siitä, mitä heille tapahtuu. Tarina etenee aivan liian hitaasti, koska hahmoja on niin paljon ja kerronta jää monessa kohdassa "fiilistelemään" jonkun yksittäisen hahmon ajatuksiin. Lisäksi väkivaltamättö ja veren runsas roiskuminen laskevat silmissäni minkä tahansa tarinan pisteitä. One of the best graphic novels ever written
I found Watchmen to be incredibly bleak. Parts of it are incredibly dated, particularly in its attitudes to women. I also founds sections, the beginning, namely, to be rather slow and dragging. I did, however, find Ozymandias and Rorschach interesting and fun to follow.
My first foray into graphic novels (with the exception of Persepolis), and this book did not disappoint. Feared that masked hero thing might feel a little juvenile, but this book rather focuses on the adult themes present in the mid 80s of nuclear war, government conspiracy, corporate greed, etc. I did find Nite Owl to be a kinda dopey character, however. Awesome illustrations, and Alan Moore uses a lot of very creative narrative devices that it might not be possible to pull off in a non-graphic novel. Opened new avenues for storytelling through juxtapositions of images and narrative. Awesome book, I'll have to explore this whole world of literature now because of this book.
Instant classic. I saw the movie before reading this comic. After reading and rewatching, this story became one of my top 10 comics.
What an incredible, absolutely incredible, book. Tired to take note of every inner working and still probably missed half of it. In this book every character and every story matters, and yet the haunting reality the book lives in (and so do we) is the inherit flawed-ness of every human philosophy in contrast to the resilience of the human spirit.
