allen ginsberg is just incredible. howl, especially, is gut wrenching. the kind of not-for-everyone poetry that i think everyone should give a shot to- if it is for you, it is so so worth it to find out.

i’m doing this from memory so i really can’t remember all the particular tws. i’ll edit this later but for now, two things. (1) ginsberg is purposefully subversive and this often leads to crude language and frequent mentions of sex. no in depth sex scenes, just know you’ll be reading “cock,” “cum,” etc., a lot and maybe don’t pick up his work if that’ll bother you. (2) these topics, even the ones i’m potentially missing, are all just dropped in lines of poetry. no super in depth sex scenes, no graphic descriptions of gross or traumatic things. things may be mentioned frequently, but, for me at least, it’s easier to skip around triggers here than in prose.satansbraten's review against another edition
