Night Shade Books' final edition of their complete collection of Smith's weird fiction, arranged in chronological order of writing, benefits from capturing the end of his last truly great period of writing, and suffers from incorporating some of the lesser stories he wrote after his artistic inspiration had largely moved on to other formats.
